Director of Development
I recently phased out of two year stent as a Director of a major national development company in Baltimore, Md. and I have returned to home and family in the Hampton Roads Region of Virginia. I have a great deal of high level experience and I am seeking new employment at a management, director or executive level. While I am 61 years of age, I spend 10 to 15 hours a week on the racquetball court and I am in better shape than most twenty year olds. I am seeking to work for at least another 10 years. I am applying for a lot of relevant jobs, but I am finding that interviews are few and far between. I am open to a new approach to getting back to work.

Hi John, Thanks for your question! Sounds like you have lots of options to consider: level-of-job, industry, management/individual contributor ('executive' can cover either)... once you determine some of these things, then reach into your network. I've reviewed your profile and you seems to have lots of industry-related experience, as well as 'extra-curricular' experience - use the contacts you've made to reach into the community. Ask for contact names, then ask those contacts for names - offer to 'buy someone a coffee' and conduct informational interviews to learn more about different companies or positions. Reach out and connect with as many people as you can. And be flexible & open when considering opportunities. Your skills can be applied many different ways and you want to cast your net as WIDE as possible. We all know that sometimes jobs/companies are different than they appear from the outside, so keep your options open.
Lastly, you might want to consider adding some more detail to your profile. Any detail pertaining to projects, management experience, revenue generated (always interesting to employers!) or challenges you've overcome can easily 'speak' to a potential employer and make your application stand out. The more data/facts& figures the better!
Good luck ~ keep at it and make sure to check back in and let us know how your search is going!! Marijoy
