What were the circumstances that caused you to loose the internship? Was there a contract drawn up between your internship and your university? When I did my internship in grad school, I had a contract between my advisor where I was working and the department Dean specifically outlining what benchmarks I was to hit and what project I would complete; this happened because too many interns were being taken advantage of by their companies and were used as errand people and making copies and doing grunt work. My grade was based on the report the company gave the University, and if there were any problems with my performance, it was an automatic "F". If I had a problem and felt like I wasn't learning anything, then my program would have placed me somewhere else.

I would go to your department head or whomever is running the intetnship for your major and find out what happened. If the fault lies with you, then take it for the learning experience it is and ask if there are other available internships. HTH!
