Who should I report this workplace issue too?
I’m a temp worker having problems with a permanent employee. There’s a group of us working on this assignment and for some reason I’m the one being singles out for mistreatment by this perm worker who’s not even a supervisor. Normally I would call the temp office and ask for another job assignment but this job is contracted for 6 months work with excellent pay for a laborer. Should I talk to the company supervisor on site or the temp office manager?

go to the project manager or supervisor on site. But I would first try to resolve this issue one on one.

Follow the chain of command. Talk to the temp. agency first. I am sure they have experience working with these situations. Going straight to the on site supervisor first could affect the relationship between the temp agency and their client. Guess whose side they will be on. Since this is a temporary position, though it out if at all possible. Do the work assigned by the supervisor.

As a former manager you should always report any in office problems you are having with a co-worker. Next time it may be worse for the next person. Who may not be as strong!

go to your site supervisor but if it continues ask for another job assignment. Peace of mind in the workplace is important.

Sorry to hear your going through that experience at work Jose. Sometimes these situations can be defused by talking directly to the individual if you feel comfortable enough to do that. If not, then take the matter to the on site supervisor for the company.

Talk to your Supervisor first, if the problem doesn't get solved go to the Department Manager. The problem continues on go the Humor Resource Manager. You have to go through the chain of command steps in a work place.

Hello Jose,
I have worked in HR for many years and have dealt with employee relation issues on many levels. There is a lot of good and sound advice and direction here, I suggest that if you have not already done so, go to the person themselves. Many times, not always issues can be resolved at a personal level. Should this approach not work you will have more credibility when going to your project manager. As previously suggested keep a log of date time and instance should you need it in order to potentially take the situation beyond your project manager. Lastly, and this is always a sensitive subject to approach, do some introspection on the situation. In doing so take out the emotions (I know this is not easy) look at the situation and see if there is any merit. I know and understand being in the situation brings about great anxiety and frustration which will only affect you, your attitude and your work. Hang in there, do not give up, and know that I will pray that you find peace and strength to persevere. You will only be better for it.
