An industrial manufacturer on Bainbridge Island is seeking a Welder Assistant to help with steel preparation in a production environment.

To qualify for this position you MUST have:

A minimum of 1 year experience working with steel; measuring, prepping, cutting, grinding, etc. The ability to use a cutting torch to make a beveled edge and grind steel to ready for welding Good math skills, time management skills and reading comprehension Strong critical thinking skills Arm/hand steadiness, control precision, good coordination, finger dexterity, trunk strength, static strength and dynamic strength The ability to comfortably lift up to 60 pounds The ability to pass a background check and drug test Experience with a plasma torch is preferred

As a Welder Assistant, you’ll be responsible for:

Moving workpieces, tools, and supplies, manually or by hand truck Cleaning workpieces to remove impurities, such as slag, rust, and grease Using wire brush, portable grinder, hand scraper, or chemical solutions to remove excess weld or splatter Operating safety equipment as needed Organizing workspace before and after job to maintaining a safe worksite Other tasks as assigned Physical Requirements and Environment: A welder job requires arm/hand steadiness, control precision, multi-limb coordination, finger dexterity, trunk strength, static strength, dynamic strength, the ability to stand for long periods of time, and to comfortably lift up to 60 pounds. Must be able to work at heights and/or in confined spaces.
