Help

I work on a two man team unloading 40 ft. trailers and last month my manager teamed me up with his nephew who refuses to pull his weight. He takes extended breaks and often times just walks away from the loading dock leaving me with the brunt of the work. I get home exhausted everyday and this week I almost threw my back trying to get the job done on time. I already spoke to the manager and he just told me to give him more time to get used to the work. It took me a long time to find this job and I can’t afford to lose it right now but I don’t want to get hurt or fired for to much complaining about my manager’s nephew. What should I do??

Prefer Not To Answer at See Above

Nepotism?...Check with human resources to see if there is a policy prohibiting nepotism. If so....the nephew should not be supervised by his uncle.

Ouch Ouch. talk to you manager. Explain that you are carrying his nephew. use your i-phone if needed to video. it may take time and documentation. keep a log of these actions (nephews and the manager's). Show that the nephew is stealing time (long breaks, walking away from work). It will take time. Meanwhile, look for work elsewhere. Your sanity is worth more.

Mike, I had the same type of job 25 ish years ago. same type of situation same type of people and I busted my ass so hard did the best job that I could and was totally physically exhausted like you said where I couldn't do anything else but sleep and then even when I got up I was too tired to do anything it's not worth it I'm sure yours isn't worth it either unless you love it and it doesn't sound like you do. don't hurt yourself permanently over this job it's not worth it like another job poster said start looking for another job. People suck. best of luck to you man I know how it is God bless you AL Kohr

I'm sorry family should not be working together that's favoritism and it's against company policy to have family in the same work are or even underneath them sounds like manager isn't doing his job

I don't know what company you work for. But i've been unloading trucks most of my life. I also know how to operate forklifts, power jacks, pallet jacks, straddle jacks, etc. etc... I already have a full time job but wouldn't mind earning some extra on the side....

the worst thing is that there should be plenty of warehouse jobs out there so that you don't have to put up with this crap. Its appropriate ADP does the jobs reports now and that they are down because ADP is famous for not hiring qualified people!
