I learned something last night...
Many of us feel stuck in the under/unemployed loop of doom. After 10 months, I learned that my network of friends and support has the greatest value. An peer from a recent seasonal job called me at 6: 30 last night. I could sense urgency in his voice. He invited me to a networking event happening that night. Going until 9 PM, and only minutes from my home, I dashed with resumes, business cards and a suit with no tie (my new thing). Needless to say, stars aligned. This morning, I receive a GREAT offer coupled with two follow-up calls. Oddly, another offer came in that morning and six more recruiters made contact today! Bottom line, pay it forward by asking, "How many roles are you looking to fill? I have a few peers with similar skills that would love to chat with you." If you get a business card, you know you are in the loop!

Congrats to you. That's awesome! I hope that the positions offered were to your liking. If not, at least you are employed now hopefully.

....Any person can ' network ' at a variety of places....let anyone you Regularly come in contact with Know you're lookin' fer a Job....let it be your favorite cashier, library clerk, auto mechanic, plumber, dog groomer.....anyone you Feel comfortable admitting ya don't have employment....and if de God Family has got your Back, Their wonderful string pulling, behind the scenes, can & will land you a job....We are all connected in a Majestic Web....we are all brothers & sisters, and likewise, helping each other out should be Second Nature...
How, pray tell did you work for American Express and Caterpillar while still on active duty with the Army? Sorry, but it taxes credibility, if not actual honesty regarding the story above. I agree that networking is the absolute best way to find a job, but this kind of response from a single job fair/"networking even" is unheard of.
