Forced Out of the Job!
I was released from my job yesterday afternoon. I worked at that job for 12 years. The manager and HR rep called me into the office told me I was let go then gave me 2 minutes to go back to my desk, grab my jacket and purse, then I was escorted out of the building by security. They told me that anything left behind belonging to me would be packed and shipped. I never expected to be treated so poorly after all those years of loyal service. I’m so depressed today. Why is it necessary to treat employees so badly after such a long working relationship?

Hi Nancy, I can imagine how are you feeling. I also know that today since difficult to overcome and your horizon is dark and uncertain. I can assure you that always, always after the storm, the sun comes back shiny and brighter. Sometimes what we call "bad things" are not such. Sometimes it is an opportunity for a better future. This perhaps could be an opportunity for you to better yourself, to reconnect with friends, family, loves ones, to rebuild yourself. Please never doubt yourself, believe that this is not the end and this job does not define you, nor your future. Trust in God and the something better is coming your way. Be prepare and ready when it finds you. God Bless you. Sincerely

Hi Nancy, I know today it seems so bad and difficult situation to even thing that something good will come out of it. However I can assure that always, always after the storm the sun comes out bright and shiny. This is just one stone in your way, but by not means it is not the end of the road. Sometimes things apparently "bad" are just an opportunity to better ourselves, to push us to look at other horizons, to invest in ourselves, perhaps study, find a better opportunity, relax, rest, reconnect with your family, friends, love ones, etc.. Don't give up soon you will see that something better is coming your way.
Believe in yourself, trust and God and never doubt. God bless you If God is with you, who could be against you? No one

My situation is similar except that I worked for the company for 16 years and they allowed me few hours and to come back to pick up my stuff and a severance contract. I believe that is done to avoid any safety situation and to protect company's intellectual property This is a common practice, and you do not need to be depressed, we live in a very selfish society. I am firm believer that things happen for a reason, Have faith in God, work hard and be positive, you will end up in a much better company. Good luck

Remember People are selfish Don't Worry When One door Closes God open many more so Hold on God Has Better Job for You so Don't Stress you are very Bless And your Old Boss will have to answer to Are Lord Amen Stay Prayed Up And Smile

Unfortunately, that method has been very common for many years and more so since 911 I think. companies are afraid people will go postal or violence and destruction of other employees moral with be effected, and distraction among all. the debate over employee loyalty comes down to the actions of the more dominant side of this equation — The firm. “The employee/employer relationship has changed because of the firms. You hear people say that ’employees just don’t care about having long-term employment relationships.’ Maybe I’m naive, but I don’t think humanity changes that much.” The rhetoric of the 1980s, he says, was all about “‘taking control of your career, and your life.’ I have a hard time thinking my father is that different from me [in this regard]. It doesn’t make sense to say that individuals who were born in the 1970s experience a [huge] epiphany that they need to be in control of their lives, and that people born in the 1940s don’t think that way. People have always wanted to be more in control of their lives.” What’s different now, he notes, is how firms treat employees. “It seems strange to me to be loyal to a firm that I know has no loyalty to me.” You will do well use your network wisely and there are better thinks to happen on the Horizon- I have faith in you

And people wonder we have work place shootings

What was there reason for letting you go if you don't mind me asking? That just seems extremely horrible loyalty on the part of your ex-employer. Would you mind divulging who it is?

Same thing happened to me back in March. I would have been at my job for 3 years in July. They told me that I wasn't keeping up with their poductivity numbers, which I KNEW was BS. Now they have me on a 'Do Not Rehire' list, which I think is a HUGH reason why I can't find another job. I must have put out at least 100 applications since March, and so far I have heard nothing. I also went to 2 different Temp agencies. I thought it was funny, because yesterday, I got a call from one of them, and they wanted to send me to the place that let me go. The girl asked me if I wanted her to call them, and see if they would let me go back, and that she wold call me back. I said sure. She never caled me back, so that means they must have something in my file that isn't good. I'd love to know what it is, because right now I feel like I'm being discriminated against. I ran out my unemployment, and even cashed in my 401K because I needed money to pay my bills. Now I'm screwed. I really need a job, and can't find one. I have been applying for jobs, in whearhouses, department stores, food stores, fast food places. The only places I don't apply to are they ones that I know I'm not qulified to do, or wouldn't be able to do. I even applied to a Salvation Army store, because I was told they were looking for help, and I heard nothing from them. It's very depressing.

Nancy, Don't feel bad, it happened to me in late April of this year after 36 years of service as an Administrative Assistant. Company dismantled our "District" displacing over 100 employees. I was the last employee of the wave of positions eliminated. Here's the kicker, my direct report (District Manager) was actually promoted and relocated to the Regional location. Severance package denotes I was released due to the location closing; however, the location is still open and from what I've heard the Company is renewing the lease.......... early May I was offered a position at the same Company and same location but in a different department at a much lower pay rate, and I rejected it because it wasn't worth it factoring in the daily commute. 30 years of commuting under my belt. My problem is with 30+ years of Admin/Accounting experience, seems like no one is even considering what I have to offer. Not giving up!
