HI MY NAME IS DENISE RHINES-AND I HAVE BEEN DRIVE FOR LYFT SINCE NOV OF 2017.AND I REALLY LIKE IT.BUT I HAVE A 2007 DODGE CAR.AND IT IS IN VERY BAD SHAPE.AND NEEDS SOME WORK DONE TO IT.BUT IT GETS ME TO PUT A-BACK.BUT WORKING FOR LYFT IS VERY HARD.BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HELP OUT WITH THE GAS THAT I PUT IN TO MY CAR EVERYDAY JUST SO I CAN TAKE PEOPLE BACK AND FOUR TO THEIR JOB OR SCHOOL.I AM ON LOW-INCOME AND JUST MAKING IT TO PAY ALL MY BILLS EVERY MONTH.AND I WISH I COULD DO MORE WITH LYFT LIKE OTHER GREAT THINGS.SO THANK YOU FROM DENISE RHINES IN OSWEGO NY.3/2/18-THE TIME IS 6:00-AM

Hi lyft do not have fuel card so try not let your fuel drop past half tank pick what pays most cut off hard running miles use you tip money to refueling

I suggest signing up for UBER AND driving for both(lyft). Uber provides a gas card.i drive in wv and my limit is $200/wk. Uber also has a program that provides cars on lease ,but it is not available in all cities.i also suggest you familiarize yourself with peak request times, and goid waitpoints.podition yourself at a waitpoint that is in the middle of peakpoints .that saves on gas to.hope this helps!

Hi Denise, I'm told that Uber furnishes their driver a new car. I have family and friends who drives for them and who attests to that. Since you're in that line if business, you may wish to check into it. Hope this helps and best wishes.

I also am currently driving for lyft part time. Im positive that they do pay you in such a way that gas is include in what you recieve for each pickup dropoff. However i do know that Uber does not.

You can do passenger referrals, or driver referrals.

can you afford to put 20.00 a week back and not spend it.

Try getting a prius it gets 50 miles to the gallon fills up 10.00

get a notebook and keep track of your mileage and keep those gas receipts. Also, keep ALL of the receipts for any mechanical work that you have done on this vehicle. This can all be deductible as an unreimbursed employee expense if you are actually an employee of the company. If you are considered as self employed, you can deduct your expenses from your self-employment income on your schedule C. Basically, if you get a W2 at the end of the year from them, then you are an employee of theirs. If they send you a 1099 MISC, then they consider you to be self-employed. Either way, keep receipts for EVERYTHING. And, make sure you log your miles. Without doing this, you cannot deduct ANYTHING. Also, you should be able to take the depreciation on this vehicle. It won't do much for you right now. But next year, when you file your tax return, your expenses will reduce the amount of income that you will have to pay tax on. I am a tax professional, so please, take my advice. When you see your tax professional next year, make sure you bring those receipts and mileage logs with you.

Denise, Those miles that you are driving could be tax deductions! If you have not done your taxes yet, you could ask a tax pro about that. How is the pay with them?
