Opportunity ISN'T Knocking

Hello All, I have a concern. I am a convicted felon for a crime that I committed in the late 90's that's still a problem for me today. My career goals and life have changed drastically, however in the eyes of society my past is always coming to haunt me and prevent me from advancing in my career. I have far more than given back to society, and I am brutally honest with all I come in connection with, simply to show credibility, growth, and advancement. During the past 20+ years, I've explained, I've attended many programs designed to assist felons and I have also taken time out to get my Bachelor's degree, and currently working towards my Master's degree in Business Management and Marketing. My biggest issues currently, is my skills over qualify me lower paying jobs, and my background prevents me from getting into my related field of interest. No, I cannot gain an espungment of my record because the crime was a violent crime, one of domestic violence, for which today, I am now an Ambassador of DV. No I am by far violent, and I've spent years explaining myself to the point I am tired of explaining. My life has been at a stand still as far as employment is concerned, and my ambitions are going unnoticed, because society wants see me as I am written on paper. I've excelled in all areas, I've become a benefactor in many other lives, and I have shown society, that the rhetoric of ones past is just that...THE PAST.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, how can I overcome this, who is willing to give me opportunity, and am I to continue excelling in my education and not utilize the knowledge I've acquired. I am asking and seeking help from the public as to which direction to go and who is willing to give me the chance to show that what one reads on paper is NOT who I am or ever have been.

Thanks in advance for any support!

That is a challenging situation, since you are an ambassador for domestic violence, you should look into community programs or nonprofit organization that need someone like you who can help people in the community.
