Employers can fire you any way they'd like to, I think as long as they have the proper paperwork in the end, and human resources has been contacted. Good luck in the future

That is how I was terminated, once. Agree on cowardly and unprofessional. I do not believe anyone in a position of authority with training would handle any case that way!

It is not. In my last job I was a manager of a gas station and I was obligated by law in Indiana I’m pretty sure to fire people face to face and they had to sign a termination form. Otherwise they could fight that I fired them unfairly.

I'm with Craig. I would pretend I never got it. That way they have to see you. And hopefully rethink their decision. Obviously, this isn't a company you'd wabt to stay with. But this gives you time to look for a new and better job!

Acceptable - Yes, Professional - Absolutely Not! I’ve heard other members sharing their experience with these separation of employment messages.

There are not official federal or state laws that prohibit this (yet) but certain restrictions to this communication process may apply if separation of employment terms exists within an employment contract.

So sorry your relative had to endure this type of treatment Michelle A.James . i’m sure she was a dedicated and loyal employee throughout here tenure with that employer and not worthy of this type of behavior.

Please encourage and invite her to connect with this community. We would luv to assist and support her along her new job search journey. Thanks Michelle A.James
