Unappreciated or what??

I have been working for a small business for almost 3 years now. I have never taken one thing that I haven't paid for. I recently hired this New girl and I asked her to check pricing on a certain idea and I circle the item and said "unwanted individual line item pricing on this item) so she apparently placed the order to give me accurate pricing info w shipping. The boss got mad af and was interrupting her on the phone while saying stuff like "you have to go through me before placing employee orders" " you can't just do that" "she has to pay upfront before the item is ordered" etc etc. The girl came and asked me had I stolen something before and I replied no and that is when she told me the entire ordeal he made.

I have prepared my resignation letter and when I go into work tomorrow, I plan to confront my boss about what happened. Should I quit a perfectly stable job over this. I feel like he is calling me a liar a thief and all the above. No appreciation for anything I have her done for him.

Sounds like a case of miscommunication which is not uncommon situation at any job but certainly not enough to drive you to resign from a "stable" job Jessica. Being directly or indirectly accused of something you haven't done especially when that act or action goes against your moral fiber in never an easy pill to swallow. These experiences many times lead us to make bad decisions we later come to regret once emotions subside and logic takes over.

Great idea to sleep on it and plan a talk with your boss after 24 hours but don't approach the talk as a confrontation rather envision it as more of a conversation and keep an open mind but make sure you have all of talking points outlined. Have a solid strategy outlined to make sure you have an opportunity to listen and understand all of the facts involved and at the same time re-affirm your moral standards, loyalty, and commitment to the job to ensure that your integrity is never questioned again! Hope your talk goes well and all misunderstandings are resolved. Good Luck!!
