Did Trump just save jobs?
Apparently Trump managed to stop Carrier from shipping 800 jobs to Mexico - but he had to give them a $7 million tax break to do it. I'm not sure this is the best way to save jobs. Or am I wrong? What do you guys think?

Hi my name is nick and i am all for peace so i think that we should be opened minded try new thing other than violence or greed. I think if we did thing far differently things may just be for the better no matter what. Its just that choice we have to decide on do we or dont we? We decide.

I don't see how that helped taxpayers. Saved 800 jobs costing 7 million. If this is the deal for other companies, we'll be in trouble. I hate it for the 809 people whose jobs were saved as the public will be disagreeing with this plan. But those 800 are real people and am sure they are grateful.

Sorry about the double reply earlier. I thought I had to reply again when I was asked to register for this site. But the issue is with the Davis Bacon Act. The unions require much higher wages due to their dues and benefits and paying for the guys at the top. (Jimmy Hoffa)... the inflated wages make it much more economical to go overseas. One needs to understand that a CEO of a publicly traded company has as a feduciary responsibility to the shareholders to maximize profits for the shareholders. After all they are the investors. Not the union. Right or wrong that is the way it is. They abide by that. Yes they make some cash. But, if they don't, the board will cut them loose. It's a tough situation to be in. I've been there.

I think we could have used that money here in the United States to build new businesses here

What happened to the original plan of penalizing companies for shipping jobs overseas?

At an average union wage of 70,000 per year per employee over a 10 year period, this move will generate 156,000,000 in tax revenue for the government. I'd say it's a good move.

Yes. Over a period of 10 years and an average union wage of 70,000/per year. It creates 156,000,000 in tax revenue. Not bad for a 7,000,000 investment. That's a pretty good return.

He is trying to save himself from getting stuck into following the rules lead out for the president has to follow. He does not want the job then tell the government the he resigned.

I don't really follow much when it comes to politics as far as the actual presidential election goes due to the fact that yes we all may have the ability to cast our votes towards whichever candidate we choose but ultimately it's the "Electoral College" within the states that actually do the voting for each and every one of us. So essentially all we vote for is to give the Electoral College an idea of who we think should be elected and then from there the Electoral College determines who will be elected as the next President as well as Vice President. In retrospect it's a pretty flawed system in my opinion. But I guess that old saying can be applied to that. "Opinions are like Assholes, Everyone has one." ; P But I digress. So as for my opinion relating to the original post. I think it's awesome to save jobs and not give those jobs that would take food out of said employees mouths but at the same time I guess the real question in my mind is. Was that the only way to save those jobs.? By putting the US into more debt. Anyways I'm sure there is more to it than that but I really think that the Government is flawed in many ways. Not all, but many. As I'm sure everyone would agree, in some way or another It is. Thanks for listening to me Rant and please take into consideration that these are just my opinions. (Here's a link relating to the Electoral College and how much influence they have when it comes to Electing the next President.) READ THE INFORMATION PROVIDED IN THE LINK BELOW IT'S REALLY VERY INTERESTING. http://www.learnnc.org/lp/media/lessons/davidwalbert7232004-02/electoralcollege.html

I'm astonished to have ever been convinced he was selfish In the first place
