Termination...

I worked for a home health company about a year and a half ago.. I had to have surgery in December 2018 and while in my 6 week recovery, the first week they decided to give me my last check. At that time I didn't know it was going to be my last check. I was told they had to "remove my name from the system" until it was time for me to come back. I said ok fine, not really thinking. In my 5th week of recovery, I started to reach out to let them know I was almost ready to start back work so I wanted to jump on whatever process needed so I can just go back to my clients, they gave me the run around. I gave them my doc release, they kept saying the hiring manager was "out of the office" or busy. Then I get an email later telling me "Good luck on your job search...." then after I find another job they had the audacity to text me and ask of I would like to come back and work for them. Thee most horrible job experience I had ever had.

Thats terrible! I disagree with how jobs handle a situation where the employee have medical issues, its like they dont even care that you are sick or going through something like that, it seems as though if you are not working or doing what they want, they dont care but as soon as you find something else, they want you back! Its horrible but Im glad you remained patient and handled it the right way! Im happy for you and your success :)

Hey Punkin_the_Great . , sorry to hear you had to deal with all the uncertainty and work related stress during your recovery. Did the company offer or explain FMLA when you told them you needed to take time off for surgery?

Employers need to get better at training their leadership teams on employee planning and communication. Glad to hear you landed back on your feet with another job. Thanks for sharing your story!
