General Manager at Wendys

Need advice for referrences

I had 8 years with manager experience. Great referrence. Until my district manager got mad at me, fired me..claiming false reasons, but my concern is applying for a new job. How do i explain a discharge even though its based on lies? I cant really say...i was fired because i made my boss mad. And i have former employee referrences..but not upper management. What would you do?

You are human Being honest is always the best path. Think about it and state tge facts in the most effective way possible. For example, "My previous employer hired a district manager that had unbridled anger issues. While I did my job effectively for eight years, when this district manager developed a conflict with me on a personal level, the position I had was a casualty of collateral damage. I did my job responsibly, he just did not like me.". I think most HR people would rather hear that than any lie. The key is in 8 years of continuous employment that speaks volumes about you. Smile you are a decent soul the world is your oyster now pick your pearl

Put on there that you left for personal reasons then put on there also that you will give more information upon request, if the new job is really interested in you and there curious they will contact you about it or ask you about it during an interview

You can say you were let go or say that it wasn't a good fit.
