Feeling Unwanted
I have interviews three jobs in the past two weeks. I called to check on my application. Personnel told me the department would contact me and to call them. I called the department and she told me contact personnel. I checked my mailbox and the woman from the department sent me a letter, dated the day of my interview saying I was not chosen. I have 5 degrees and administrative experience and skills. What else do they want?
-disappointed

I'm sorry ur going thru tough time. Perhaps u could apply to areas that r outside of ur usual haunts. For example a friend applied to hospital for legal department bcuz she is a lawyer. However she was not hired. So she instead applied @ same hospital for human resources manager. She was hired. THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX. Yes it was a lower salary HOWEVER over time she was promoted to director. So a silver lining. Restructure ur approach & perhaps u will see better results.

ok

A white person.

Ur just are not a fit. Move on

I have a Ph.D in Human Resources Management and Performance. I see where some one has been turned down 20 times. I hope that means she had 20 interviews. There is age discrimination out there and there are also many who send in resumes who are not qualified and that takes up time to muddle through that. It is really scary out there now.....Glad we can share our concerns and story.

I have the same problem I have been turned down over 20 times in the past month and half they could be basing it on a lot of factors such as you could be over qualified or they may just be giving you the run around as I know this is not professional they should of just came out and said I am sorry but we have chosen someone else but keep looking and stay posted Lisa hicks

Girl..... Me too.. It is super frustrating when i apply and look to see 6700 other ppl viewed the same Job.. Im depleted. I knw i would rock every job i applied for. Or the jobs that do show intrest r 55 miles 1 way. Nope not doing that to my car. I did that for 20 Years when I was a Allstate Agent. Traffic made me suffer a heart attack and thats a true story.

Its not what you have, it's how you sell it.
People dont want candidates with every qualification out there, just someone who can do the job they're being hired for. Only list the licenses and degrees the job requires when you hand in your resume. Talk more about your experience than your qualifications. They already know your qualifications, otherwise they wouldn't have called you to interview. What they want to know now is what kind of work ethic and mentality you bring to the table. A college degree doesnt mean anything anymore. Most of the stuff you need a degree to do, people can learn on their own. EXPERIENCE MATTERS!
I would suggest putting in more than 3 applications. To be serious, put in at least 3 per day. If you get hired, just tell whoever calls after that that you apologize, but you've aleady been offered another position.
Also, contact the administration at rhe colleges you've attended for help finding employment. Any decent school has help for alumni to fond work. It may not be exactly the position you want, but it could very well be the one you need.

I would call them back or try Human Resources. Specifically your point of contact delegated by whomever you were called by .
Wow! I am sorry for your misfortune, but I think you r gonna be okay. U got 5 degrees and can't find anything...I'm totally screwed lol. Good luck.
