Working with a Recruiter Really Helped!
One day as I perused hundreds of job openings, finally one caught my eye. It was at my local Target and it was doing something with mobile phones or technology and would involve lots of training and support materials. The next day, I was contacted by a recruiter for the company to see if I was interested and I told her YES that I had just seen the posting the previous day. She told me more about the job and we had several conversations where I shared some of my story with her. I believe that it was that personal connection with her is what led to my job offer. Of course, I interviewed well, but she really spent time talking to me about my resume and my 2 year period of unemployment so that she could present me as the best candidate for her managers. She set up my interview and after talking with the District Manager for 30-40 minutes in which he repeatedly asked if I fully understood the expectations of the job and did I have any remaining questions, I only asked what his timeline was in making a hiring decision. And that's when he OFFERED ME THE JOB ON THE SPOT! I was so excited and happy and RELIEVED to have ANY JOB! (But the job was presented to me as part-time seasonal and to expect 15 hours/weekend up through the holidays with increased hours Thanksgiving week and the 2 weeks prior to Christmas. The DM assured me that more than anything, my sales would dictate my hours and how long they would keep me on. But still, I knew I had to keep looking for another part-time job to work the days I didn't work for Target.) I'll tell what happened next in another post!

Hi Amanda, I have worked with some amazing recruiters myself and when you find someone you click with and who is great at their job it's like striking gold! I am so glad that individual was able to help you. : )
