Advice on what to say or do?

I recently resigned from a job recently and I did it too early. It was a call center job and I had finished my training and was in nesting at the time before I actually started production. I do not like being on the phone but I wanted to try it out to see if I could overcome that but it turned out backfiring on me. So much I quit early. I liked the job but it just wasn’t for me. I would rather do chat support or email support so I am currently looking for those jobs. My question is, how should I approach the situation if I get interviewed or asked by a company I am applying for asks “Why did u leave your last job?” I don’t want to put the references of the company I used to work for because I wasn’t there long and if I put references down for the previous job I had before this one, they will think that’s suspicious. Can anyone give me some advice on what to do or say?

Just tell them you weren't a good fit for the company in your own eyes. You might not need to put it on the app but will possibly need an explanation in regards to the gap in employment. Maybe you can say finding your niche was important so you could grow, advance, and become one of the greatest assets to any company applied to...???

If you were with that employer for a short time, there is no need to put them down as work experience.

Make sure you let whatever job you apply for the info that you don't want to do phone work. That's what I do. I hate being on the phones. I don't know what's changed with me over the years because in the past I've had jobs that would involve the phone every now & then. I thought I might be able to overcome it now & maybe take a job as a CSR or a job where a phone might have to be used, but I know myself & would not like that at all & would wind up quitting, so I just say no phone work on my applications.

Just say you decided to take a sabbatical for awhile. Problem solved. You dont have to bare your soul.

Hi Ana, it's great that you discovered what you enjoy doing and also what you didn't. That is so important! How long were you there? If it was for less than a month you could consider not putting it on your resume entirely, since it seems you went through training but didn't yet have a lot of experience on the job as of yet. If you do want to list it you could say that you discovered that you are much more successful and enthusiastic towards online chatting versus over the phone when assisting a customer. Wishing you the best!
