What I loved working at #FrozenFoodExpressoutofDallasTX
They are a "family" business and they treat all of their employees as part of the family. They were the first trucking company that offered me a job right out of trucking school. They paid for my way to get to Dallas TX. Every worker and every truck driver were ALL the friendliest and helpful people. Backing the truck was beyond being a challenge for me, but staff as well as a few of the truck drivers worked one on one with me. They made me feel like I was part of their trucking family. When I did get out on the road, as a solo driver, the family was as close as the QUALCOMM. I traveled to every state except those states you can't get to by land. I asked for approx. 3000 miles a week to drive and they pretty much gave me those miles or close to it. I never felt alone in the truck because I could always contact my Fleet Manager on the QUALCOMM. When I would get back to the Yard, they had a minivan that drivers could use to go to the bank, do some food shopping, or go out to eat. I could ask any worker on property a question and they would know the answers or find the answers for me. If I had known how much I would love truck driving I would never have worked 38 years in the accounting field. I still stay in contact with a few of the people I knew or worked with at FFE. Even now I watch the roads for an FFE truck. I loved this company. Medical issues that I had to come back home to take care of didn't allow me to continue trucking. My kidneys didn't like that scenario. I encourage everyone I'm around to try trucking as their career. There are rules, but there's also freedom. I loved the long hauls from the East coast to the West coast and all the roads I travelled North to South. I loved FFE. If I needed to get back home quick for a doctor visit, they made it happen. There's nothing bad I could ever say about FFE. I only wish I was still out there driving, but I can't anymore. I went on disability and am now retired. But I encourage every man or woman to go to Truck Driving School and get out there on the highways and find a PEACE you'll never find anywhere else.
Great post. We have a lot in common. I worked in accounting and contracts administration. It's murder to get a job in an office because of underemployment from too many seeking degrees. I am definitely considering driving a truck.
