Finding a job at a older age
I find, being over 60 with no plans to retire, that the ageism is real. The suggestions to do interim things I have done such as volunteering. However, I have had to close out my retirement to live on. I could pull early social security (I do not want to do) but I cannot get individual insurance due to pre-existing conditions. Period. COBRA is running out. I have tried taking some of my multiple education degrees off my resume because many times I am definitely more educated than who is interviewing me. I feel it is a game rather than a real process of filling a position with the best candidate. I find it sad this is where our work culture is headed.

no kidding...looking at 62 is awful and they just use other excuses instead of age..know it is illegal. a friend suggested a photo with my resume to see i am not ancient. mortifying

Maria you gotta give me more things to help with alternative help. What do you do for a living, what do you desire to do with you life. Are you trying to drive upward or go lateral. What is your education.... See now all I have is a statement of my age is a problem. Then how do I manage to turn down interviews because I have the pick of the litter?? Open up a bit more..... My social work is still good.... But you gotta talk more about you not your age.

Make it simple. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to help people. To some, helping people is rocket science. Sign, Life Student.
