Why I love Human Resources ...
With 25 years working in the HR field and teaching Human Resources Management for over 10 years, I can honestly say there are no two days alike. The HR field offers challenges and opportunity so I encourage others to check it out. Jan Rauk

I enjoy working in Human Resources too! I'm a people person, and working to build positive relationships between Mgmt. and the employees is a joy of mine. I enjoy getting to know the people I work with. There are no two people the same. And Jan, you are so right, it does offer challenges and opportunity. Thanks for sharing!

I would love to break into the HR field. I'm 37 with retail management experience, any recommendations?

I have over 10 years of experience, and I had an opportunity to move on and find a passion in another field, because it was so difficult getting back into HR, it can be stressful at times and I can say I'm happy to read all of the stories regarding the challenges others are having, I thought it was me. I suggest looking for career where you can use your transferable skills. It is not worth the constant applying and later u still see the job openings. I had to move on.

I am sure you enjoyed it their. 25 years is a long time.

I am very excited for you and it is interesting that you posted this because i am looking to enter the Human Resources field. This spring i will be studying for my Masters degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Human Resources. I am so excited because i look forward in reaching out to workers in helping them thrive and being productive in the work place. I would like to know from you how did you get started to gain experience in this field.

I just got a job in human resources (compensation and benefits), it's going to be a challenge so wish me luck!

Thanks Jan. Any pointers for professionals from other fields that want to transition into HR field?

I am having a hard time getting back into HR myself. Been a stay at home mom to three kids and really trying to find out how to get my feet wet again. Recently going through divorce and custody battles (past three years). I took a path into the medical field had 8 months of nursing school but had to quit due to the divorce. Since I was a stay at home mom I was forced by the courts to look for a job, mind you I ran my pet sitting business and worked for a private busing company working with autistic children in transporting them. I had to take a job as a medical assistant because I couldn't get a job in HR. I quit the medical assistant recently to try and revamp my career, although resume looks horrible (in my eyes) wish I knew the tricks on how to get back into HR. I resolved to temporary agency in hopes of getting back to it. And also had someone rewrite my resume specifically for hr assistant jobs.

Well good for you Jan Rauk. There is some really good people in HR. Keep up the great things you do.
What she said is so true and your 1st contact on how you see your new place of business.
