mobil maintenace tech

i am asking your advice as i am torn as to how resolve this . My friend decided to take a new job after one year . we got a new boss and he told me he couldn't work for him. on his exit interview he was offered more money to stay which he refused , he was also offerd the chance to fire the existing crew and hire his own , which he refused. I was one of 5 five he could replace . we were all a little upset that we could just be tossed as we have all been here 12 or more years and all over 55 to 62 years of age . we did confront the new boss and you could tell he was upset , but he was upset that the word had gotten out . At this time I have lost my respect for my new boss and want to still protect my job but should we , or i report him to HR .The only thing i can think of for him wanting to fire us is our age . we have all been here as i said 12 years plus, had several bosses no bad reviews . any help in this matter would be appreciated .

Wow, that is a tough situation to find yourself in. Especially knowing that your company was willing to toss you aside. To be honest, I don't know if going to HR would do much - the new boss might have had the blessing of HR to make your friend the offer to hire his own crew. Maybe start searching for a new job while working at this one?
