I would agree that it is a long list of things to help you be successful, but from an experience perspective it also contingent on the company because many companies have different terminology and expectations for one titled as Plant Manager. I would offer that you should have experience and work life examples that pertain to: Finances and managing a P&L, Purchasing and Vendor relations experience, Labor planning and Forecasting, Interviewing and hiring, Project Management, Problem solving skills as well as training skills. From there it would be good to share your leadership skills as no one does it alone and if people are not willing to follow you, you will not succeed.

You must have integrity. Be a problem solve, teach, listen ,active learn and know the business and the environment which it operates in. Must continuously achieve, exceed goals and be profitable. Must understand that alone can’t do this and must surround yourself with competent people and assist them to achieve their goals as they help you achieve yours.

One thing is to know is that staff should know what is expected of them, and how to preform the task.

There is allot to become a plant manager First knowing the business you are working in. On a high end know your costs to run. Knowing your people. Able to communicate to a multitude of personalities, because everyone is different. Always being available, going the extra set more than you expect from others. Always have a good attitude. Learn to solve conflicts and solve problems. Always remember you do not know everything and should always be learning. Always teach others to be able to move forward. Be around successful people.
