LifeChange Help!
I need to find another way to make a living. Anything that I can consistently wake up at least a little excited to do is enough for me at this point. Willing to sell, give up, and change everything in my life that’s holding me back from being more fulfilled and keeping me imprisoned in this catastrophic daily routine. Can anyone recommend an assessment test or formula I can rely on to help me discover another job I can be good at and hopefully figure out a different career path?

First thing might be to assess your hobbies. Quite often, that's where the 'passion' is, to which is so often referred.
There's a couple reasons for this. First and most obvious, we really enjoy it or it wouldn't be a hobby!
Second, it's probably not only something we're already doing free of charge but most likely we're spending money we make 'at work' on that hobby. Maybe quite a bit! Many hobbies start off 'cheap' or are inexpensive to get into, but after a decade or so, we may well have thousands of dollars invested in that 'cheap' hobby.
How great would it be to get to do that 'hobby' as a 'career' AND get paid for it? Additionally, one could still maintain a personal pursuit of that hobby-now-career and perhaps be able to do so at 'wholesale' rather than 'retail' prices.
Perhaps begin by sitting down and create a list of hobbies one has, and what other things one really would enjoy doing if they could. One way to do assess this is asking oneself, "If I had (or won) $100 million dollars, what would I do (or want to do) with my day?"
Oh sure, might want to 'travel the world' or buy a different home or exotic car or something, but after a year or three of that, then what? How would you spend your day?
The answers one finds in that self-assessment may well provide the compass to find that 'new direction' to pursue.

Great carreer coach. #1 what is your passion and build on that. Get rid of the CRAP that's holding you back. Know that you are the one holding YOU BACK. Look in the mirror. Stop blaming everything or everyone else.

You need #1 a great career coach. YOU and only YOU know your passion. Build on that forst. Then draw that line on your paper all the reasons why ti change and then all the CRAP that is holding you back.

What is it that you really enjoy doing and catches your interest? As long as it is healthy and not harmful to you. Follow your heart

Christina,
Have you considered talking to a career coach. I am an interview and career coach and I work with a number of individuals to help them transition, to a new level or responsibility within the same company, or to a new job completely. There is a right way and a wrong way about it.

Yes ago I thought about changing careers (I was a just-fired Controller at the time) and an assessment was recommended to me which helped a lot: bottom-line, I'm in the right profession, which 20 years later, I have to agree. It's from Career Direct which is a non-profit. I'm sure there are plenty of competitors, but I have firsthand knowledge of this one. Good Luck!

Hi Christina, I had to leave a career after almost 20 years of medical experience. I would suggest that you job-shadow in a few places so that you can get the feel for what you may really want to do. I also found volunteering for different services helped me focus more and feel good about myself. There are so many jobs that are only publicized through word-of-mouth today, and you won't hear about them without networking some. Get involved with a social group and begin to network with other job-seekers. Sometimes volunteering can be the best way to find and land the perfect job for you. I hope this helps, Cherry Wood, former UMA student and Alumni!! Be blessed, and I pray for you too!!

Go see if perhaps you can take some classes part time while you are still working. Or perhaps certification in Microsoft if computers is your thing. Keep trying
