It looks like Illinois doesn't have a limit to how far back it will check: https://www.avvo.com/legal-answers/how-far-back-can-illinois-employers-go-back-into-y-1826115.html Since you've been working for the state though, I feel like that's a huge mark in your favor. What kind of job are you looking for?
