Out of work and questioning modern technology
I can so relate to those that are over 50 and not getting anything in the line of work. I am computer savvy, up to date on many programs, but I am not looking a for a rocket science position. In retrospect, I was in this same place back in 2003 when companies were still transitioning from the analog systems (classified ads in the newspaper, etc.) to digital systems (online apps, resume postings, etc) and I landed a job after I relocated in about 6 months. I had a working system set up using the local paper and going to the job finder office and hunting online where I sorted out the good apps, called, faxed, and emailed back to the respective ads. I was a job applying machine! LOL I have been out of work, again (over 7 months), after a relocation, and I am still out of work. Since I have experience in running my own business, I did started another, but being where I am, the job is not as lucrative as hoped, but it is still money coming in. Again in retrospect, I think that after considering all the online apps and resume`s I've posted, things went better and faster with a paper application, a face to face and a handshake than it seems to go with all this new technology to get in the way. Does anybody else feel that pain? (besides certain ex-presidents? LOL)
I truly HEAR u! : )
