Nearly Seven Months...
Nearly seven months I've been looking for a job. Credit cards maxed, behind in rent, bills piling up. I had given myself until this week to land a gig or I was going to have to move out of my place. You run the gamut of emotions. You begin to question your qualifications since no one is choosing you. You wonder if you're too old or if the previous company is giving you a bad review of the work you did for them. You lost confidence. You feel as though the companies you're interviewing at can sense your desperation.
You lower your expectations and convince yourself you can live on less. You get to the very end of your unemployment, ready to give up, and then, miraculously, your phone starts ringing off the hook. You're all ready to accept one position -- at considerably less than what you deserve, when another company you interviewed for, who you feel you're completely underqualified for, chooses you. At $17 an hour more than you would have gotten for that other position.
That's my story. And all I can say is as painful as all of that time not working was, getting a company to say yes is the greatest feeling in the world. Too all of you out there who are experiencing what I wrote, don't give up. Don't ever give up.

Hello James I love your story!! I was displaced 2 years ago and was soo positive after being displaced that I would definitely land another job in no time, with no worries, still within the pay range I was currently in but to my surprise its been 2 years and NO JOB! Its hard to explain to someone the "gamut of emotions" as you explained unless you have experienced job loss for an extended period of time. JOB LOSS can make you feel depressed and leaves you questioning your self worth/confidence due to all the rejection. And today was one of those days where I was in my emotions as I send out countless emails, filled out several applications and surfing career sites when I came across your testimony and the testimonies of others and realized, I am not alone, though EXTREMELY frustrating, there IS a place for us all, there IS still HOPE! My prayers and positive thoughts are for everyone seeking employment, paying well!! Thanks again for being honest and open. Much growth, favor and success in your new position

I was going tho that I took the first thing that came to me was making 8.65 hr I did it for a yr got my taxes and. Now i went and on a tire shop I learned how to use the equipment and less then 1 hr make it short but don't give up and I'm not far from u so I know how it is bro

Thank you, James. Most of the time looking for a job is the most stressful job you will ever have.

Thank you for your testament. It was greatly received. God Bless and much success on your new career endeavor. "When fear knocks, Faith will answer the door"

Congratulations on your new job!! I feel what you are saying been unemployed for 7 months now.. I'm about ready to loose everything I don't knw what to do!!!! I'm so depressed and stressed anymore all I do is cry!!! I put in applications everyday and nothing!! Just wish someone would give me a chance...

Congratulations James!!! I'm going on 5 months without employment or unemployment compensation - I worked for a company for 10yrs/10mos and my background check wasn't a issue at all - now outside of that industry, I have failed one background check but I'm not going to give up - I have my moments of sadness and all that comes along with not getting hired - but I MUST continue to keep the Faith, trust and believe my day will come!!!
