Is it too late for this old man?
I am driving for Lyft part-time and I like it, but I also would really want to have people by my side and work under one roof. What does an older person like myself need to do to work for Pizza Hut? My son actually worked here when he was a teen, but I remember he really liked it and I want to do this. Can you help?

I applied online and was called by a store manager and hired on the spot two weeks ago as a driver when I went in to interview. I'm 62 and needed a part time job to make my truck payment. The tips are ok and I'm guaranteed minimum wage which works out well for me being on disability. I can only earn $840 a month and still keep my benefits and health insurance. With the low minimum starting wage and working 4 to 5 hours a day from 11 am to 3 or 4pm, 5 days a week I think I can manage and still be an asset to the store while being able to sit and drive to and from deliveries which keeps my right ankle from swelling up like a Big Bertha golf club. When I am in the store I make up boxes and stock the front end, portion chicken, ready dough, wash dishes and sweep floors and mop, I even clean the bathroom when it needs it without being asked. The people I work with are all nice. The gal that opens has worked for Pizza Hut since she was 17 and enjoys it too. She always tells me to "Be Safe" as I head out the door. I like that. My manager allows for my disability (ankle problem and other things) and lets me sit for 5 minutes at a time if I need to in between deliveries. I take them as short breaks rather than a long one. I make up so many boxes that we seem to run low on them. We had a busy night the night before last and when I came in we only had 8 medium boxes left to start our shift but plenty of the larger ones. Hopefully by keeping the boxes stocked up front we can keep a stack in the back and still have 2 or 3 cases of each size ready to make up in case of another busy day. But until then we borrow what we need to make due. It's fun and challenging even though it's not the best area I am comfortable driving and working days. It's a dream retirement job for me as it keeps me active and my ankle is tolerating it well up to this point anyway.

I know this was asked almost a month ago, but now the kids are going back to school and college. Great time to apply for days. They need help when the teens are in school.

You can't be refused a job because of your age

Don’t worry. You will achieve and succeed at your dream if you just hold on not give up.

There is no such thing as being to old to follow your dream. In order to achieve, you must believe and succeed.

Its never too late... As an older woman myself. I find that most jobs like pizza hut...papa ginos etc appreciate an older applicant. They feel you will be more responsible and willing to work than younger people. So apply at pizza hut like you want to and keep your chin up. Goodluck

I already apply on line how am i gonna know if i even gonna get hired or even an interview its been about 7 days
