Accept a position as a clerk, even though you may want to be a carrier. The advancement opportunities are better because you'll have training in more areas.

This sounds like great advice but is there a different hiring process for a clerk? I hear all the time about local post offices hiring for carriers and for rural carriers but never for clerks... is there a website to go to or should I just go into the location and see what they have open?
