Follow-up?
I called the store and asked for the hiring manager to check up on my application and was given the runaround from the employees that answered my call. I must have been transferred to 3 other extensions before I finally got to a someone willing to give me enough time to explain the reason for my call. I thought it was the manager so I went into my greeting and introduction. The waiting period in between all the transfers threw off my train of thought and struggled to briefly articulate the reason for my call. I eventually got out what I wanted to say only to find out that I wasn’t talking to the manager. What a waste of time!! I have another 20 or so more follow- up calls to make. What should I say in order to get passed all the gatekeepers in order to avoid getting transferred all over the store?

Always ask whom do I have the pleasure of speaking to?

Your Follow-up sills RULE!!! WOW!!!! 20 or MORE!!!! HOLY SHIT!!!

Ask to speak to the hiring manager. If unavailable, ask for their name and may you leave a message.

I would ask for the store manager early in the morning, then if I had trouble getting to him over the phone, go directly to the store and ask for him.

You done your part. Give them a call again ,and avoids " cold calling " call the department boss or just go find another job in a different location. Sometimes the best decision is to find a way on your own. Whoever you called didn't think for two seconds on who you were, and let you talk before they hung up the phone.

Ask for Human Resources department. They are the ones that usually do the background checks if needed and the interviews. They will be the ones to say if your going to be hired or not. They should call you if they need you to come in for an interview. Sometimes the interview is to make sure if they need you for the position or not. Either way they you should be contacted. So sorry you had the run around. I know how frustrating it can be.

You would like to talk to the hiring agent that can further assist your application in the job field you had applied for.

Hello Esmay, I am wondering if you are applying online? If so, normally someone will contact you or an email address or phone number with the contact person will be posted on the website for you to contact them. Filling out applications and handing them over in the store, doesn't guarantee you will talk to the right person. Applying for jobs now days, mean apply and wait to be contacted.

Sorry to hear that happened to you. Question is do you really wanna work somewhere like that where the people you are gonna work with treat you like that ?. I don't know your job situation in your area but if you can I would move on because that is not obviously where you belong in your life. You will find the right one. Just keep trying & keep your head up & stay positive it will all work out the way it is meant to. Good Luck :)
Well from a previous position..everything was done online and pre-screened by the Manager before printed out and called for an interview. We usually came across one position every six months maybe yearly. So 2-3 applications were selected in that timeframe. It was pointless to call or come in and check on an app because the computer system didn't store names and all applications were not kept "on file" for our particular department. We would pretend to take a name but nothing was ever done from there. It was all about the experience and how well the Application fit the Job Role...Then out of the best 2-3 we chose the candidate based on personality and their mock performance on the job.
