Is it important to be yourself during interviews?

I applied to countless jobs and barely got to interview anywhere until I started “acting” the part of the type of person the company was interested in. Why are they looking for someone so specific?

Hi Mike! While it's good to try to present yourself in the best light possible, you shouldn't have to feel like somebody else during your interview. Instead of trying to be exactly the person they seem to have created in their minds, try identifying why that person is so ideal for them. Take the qualities that you already possess and show them how you can achieve those same goals! By showing them that, you can open their minds to how you personally will fit the job, instead of just how certain skill sets or personality traits fit the job. Hope this helps. Good luck!
