Hard of Hearing Veterinary Technician
I'm pretty worried about not being hired just because I have a hearing loss. I'm pretty good with vet tech tasks, but ever since a friend of mine who is deaf told me how much she struggled to get a job due to her being deaf, it really made me worry about myself. Deaf people can do anything!

Hi Maleena, Happy New Year! You're Absolutely right. Deaf people are capable of performing any job duties especially of they have the training and education to back it up. Your resume is impressive. Americans with Disabilities Act, (ADA) are often not enough to settle the anxieties employers experience when they're confronted with a qualified applicant. Unfortunately, there aren't too many managers experiences with running a diverse workforce so it's up to you to set the foundation for the employer - employee relationship. Your education, previous work experience, and references will be just enough to get you to the interview but YOU will ultimately have to be your strongest advocate to land the job.
The Hearing Loss Association of America has an Employment Toolkit loaded with resources and strategies you can implement in your job search process to help improve your results. The CareerOneStop.org website is also excellent resource tool.
Stay Persistent! Finding the right job may take you a little longer but stay encouraged. Every action you take will get you closer to achieving your goal.

Do you wear hearing aides? I know they can be pretty expensive I went to a company called MDhearing.com and bought me some some made a world of difference. Plus there is a disability act in place that companies has to go by.
