Don't encourage me to apply then deny me...

So, I've been encouraged to apply for 2 positions in HR after they discouraged me from applying for a support role. I am over qualified for one if the positions however they filled both without even interviewing me. My issue is the fact that I was heavily ENCOURAGED to apply for these positions then treated like I was complete stranger. Did i succumb to the finnesse of the recruiter or are they jerking me around?? Funny thing is that this has happened to me on multiple occasions. Im trying my hardest not to blame it on my racism but it seems to be a deciding factor.

I'm in the same boat. I don't believe it has anything to do with race. Job recruiters make $ recruiting so they look at all potentials & their computer systems are flagged for certain words to put people with jobs. I'm learning more & more about how resumes get seen now since SO many people are looking for work. If our resumes and/or cover letter contains certain criteria the computer system it goes into will pull it for a live person to review. If not it gets put to the side with the rest & when someone is hired a generic letter goes out to the rest that applied. All in the name of efficiency & time saving. I'm learning that in order to get my resume seen I need to either know someone at the company where I'm applying or get a contact in HR to be able to also send my resume via email. Also, there are now trainings on how to compose resumes to catch an employers attention. Best wishes on your search if you haven't found your job yet!!

The HR personnel needs to prove to their employer that they are doing something, otherwise they would be totally useless. So they do spin their wheels to pretend that they are doing something!

Your RACISM?

It seems that you MIGHT be using the words or the terms you DO NOT FULLY UNDERSTAND!

What your racism mean? Are you a racist?

No wonder that no one would hire you if you are demonstrating that you do not understand and do not know what are you talking about.

Sorry to hear you're having a hard time. I blame my rejections on age rather than race although it could be a combination. I wish you much luck, things will turn around for you.

maybe would help to compose a resume that contains only the experience that you need for the job and let everything else out? This would not let the overqualified problem to be visible

Don't discourage yourself with the word "racism". Just remember something better is in the horizon God will never fail you. Just don't fail yourself with negative thinking. Good luck to you!

I don't believe its a race thing. I have also been turned down for jobs after being encouraged to apply.
