What should i do

I have a great job working for the great state of California, my talents are not being used. I am a RMA and state License Phlebotomist by trade but the California state prison will not use me. The state has aproved my status but the LVN Union will not allow me to perform my duties as a RMA. So I sit there doing nothing. I have an interview for my position somewhere else. What should i do?

Ricardo. HI AND GOD BLESS YOU. your not the only person who has been having to sit back and let there talents or trade skills be put on hold their many people who have no choice but to, when it comes to paying bills. so i say this with respect to and all the others that have had to sit and let the years go by and wonder if they would have been more accomplished, if they would have followed there passions. for gods sake follow your passions but with caution, all ways cover your back first. So go to the interview but do everything in private in other words only tell those who want to see you move forwards.

Look for another job if you want to be busy in your day to day duties. If your a licensed phlebotomist then I am sure you could get a job in any hospital.

After reading your post there's two things that stands out and they are, Phlebotomist by Trade and LVN Union. You will need to register with an accredited college or university and get your degree if you want to move into RMA position. They are not going to touch you with a ten foot pole without a degree from either college or university. Secondly go to the interview and see what they have to offer you but don't forget to sell yourself on a professional level because you know you want that job as an RMA. Go online and check your references and see what your previous employers are saying, you'll be surprise what you find that you never thought they would say about you.

So what I'm understanding is you was hired as a RMA ,yet the union wl not let you utilize that title. What is in there by laws? If you was hired as that how can the union deny you of using that title. I would look at there by laws ,if it does not state any where there pertaining to what and how and who pertaining to as job title. Then you need to bring a grevience up to the steward that would represent you with the union.

Do you have to take a test and be on the state list like in NYC out what? Why won't the LVN union let you perform your duties? I don't understand.

Ricardo !! Has anyone told you why they will not allow you to work in your chosen profession. My thought is that the Union has bargained with management for that position. If that is the case, only union members are allowed to work in that position. If you are not a union member, that is probably why you are now getting any consideration.

If I'm understanding you right, you a an interview for the current position you have somewhere els, if that's true...then go somewhere else, because this company is not allowing you to use your talents their, and no way they would let you grow with them to become a great access to them. Keep moving.

Ricardo, go on the interview. If you do not practice your skill set you will lose it. Also send your resume to healthcare providers, hospitals, insurance companies, and laboratories. Wishing you the best.

Hi Ricardo, I usually don't comment. But, just wanted to say......what others aren't. If you are still a young man. Reevaluate your career path! One of the greatest regrets you might experience is " Career Regret" find out what your true passions are as it pertains to your career & then vigorously pursue that. Never ever ever "SETTLE FOR WHAT'S SAFE" You will "ALWAYS REGRET THOSE DECISIONS" Pursue "WHATEVER YOU FEEL ARE YOUR CAREER PASSIONS" PURSUE THOSE PASSIONS &, YOU WILL NEVER FEEL UNFULFILLED, UNDERAPPRECIATED & IGNORED! WHY? YOUR PASSIONS GIVE YOU PURPOSE:) God bless & Good Luck:) #PerfessionalLifeCoach #PastorDallasTx
