I just want to work closer to home.
I just moved to Salem or but work in Portland as a Sexual Assault Advocate. I'm so tired of driving an hour to hour and half to work and then again on the way home. I am looking for a job closer to home. A state job would be ideal, but even though I do have experience I don't always have the degree or right wording. I moved to Salem to buy a home for my family, to have a calmer, more secure life for me and my children. There are no jobs in my field hiring or in non profit that actually pays enough. It's frustrating, and I feel desperate.

I think that because there's a lack of jobs in your field that it's best to remain where you are and consider taking public transportation just to avoid the wear and tear on your vehicle and gas consumption. This is a temporary alternative (unless you planned to move closer to your job). However, should you really want to transition to a new and closer position, be prepared to have a difficult time as it may not be an easy process. Good luck!
