Just a chance

I went to school for my Associates Degree in (Graphic Design) the school I went to was good but I really didn't get in the needy greedy with with the program because of other classes I didn't really need but had to take. Me myself I believe I'm a good designer not the best but I have enough skill to be dangerous. After I graduated from school I applied to different companies and shops for design but all I was getting was ( you need a bachelor degree, or higher to get this job) the only place that took me in was world's of fun sign shop. I'm blessed I had the experience to work there and learn more. Basically what I'm saying is that I understand that most jobs want the best with skills but sometimes the people they look over is the people who could be a great access to the company. Sometimes you just got to give people a chance who is willing to learn and work hard. Just because we don't have higher degrees doesn't mean we can't be trained and become great.

From you lips to God's ear, D'Andre! Couldn't agree more. Glad you found that Sign shop as one of the employers that 'get it'. Another option is to go entrepreneurial road if someone doesnt' find employers that get it but do have skills that are generally in high demand (like design). Thanks for sharing your experience and thoughts!

I totally Agree, in my case I want to enter the Marketing field. Many of the jobs that I applied require a bachelor's degree which I didn't have so I was unqualified for any position. For that reason I decide to finish my Degree and yet I can not find a company that will give me a chance to start as a Marketing Assistants to grab experience and go from there. Now companies tell me; I have a lot experiences in Sales and Management (level one) but none in marketing. :-/
