Started the job today, went great
Today was my first day...Guess he was expecting me to not have a clue...First hour, kinda slow, introductions, showed me around then bam, busy. He asked if I wanted to come in tomorrow...Can't wait.

Ms Messeng- Hey, congrats on the new job and I particularly enjoyed reading your post...short and sweet, full of enthusiasm and left us wanting more. But, you had to know there was going to be a but...I have to agree with Avalon Biederman about your picture, no body shaming involved. You look awesome in your picture; your young and cute, with a slammin' body that looks great in a bikini. However, I want you not to look at this, as a young woman, I want you to look at this as a young professional, corporate woman. Save the bikini pics for Facebook or between friends and dating sites. Why wouldn't you look just as great and be able to show off your fit body in a short skirt and matching jacket with heels? Until I retired from Wells Fargo I changed-up my suits like that, however, as a Vice President, I had discretion to worry about and a 50+ year old woman with a mini and heels did not give off the 'air of authority' I was going for...(lol) I know you are your own person and will do what you want and feel is in your best interest. I gave my daughter, Courtney, a similar speech when at 18 she decided tattoos were the best way to express her creative side! She is now 32 and has some elaborate tattoos, beautiful art, nothing I would ever put on my body, but not one anybody would know about in her professional world, unless she told them, (thank God!). Just a little story I thought I'd share with you, Hannah, about decisions your making now, case in point your bikini picture in the Jobcase forum, may stick with you for years to come. Yes, a bathing suit pic is pretty harmless now but it might not be if you were trying to be taken seriously 5 to 10 years in the future when you are climbing up the proverbial corporate ladder. All things aside, Hannah, I didn't see Avalon's post as trying to make you feel bad about yourself, just that it (the picture) should be changed. I do think it could have been said a little more delicately, but that's just me. I tend to ask for criticism, pretend that I like it and then realize how super-sensitive I am every time it happens. However, most of the time, not always, it's helped my process 100%. So I suffer through... Again, congratulations on your job, you will be a star for your boss!

How is it going on day 5?

You show them girl!! good job!!

Hannah--you landed a job and you thought it wise to put a two piece bathing suit on?? Ya--the likes are for what not your new job!! Was that a smart move? Hope you still have your job tomorrow!! Its like 60% in Florida.
