Finance Director Sales Manager at Berlin City Auto Group

Thoughts? looking for Advice

I have been a professional in an executive position for several years. they eliminated my position. I have interviewed in several different positions and have had a few offers, but the one that I really want has not gotten back to me yet. I have interviewed with them 3 times now, it was for a Assistant Store Managers position, they have indicated that they want me in a for a Store Managers position. Either way they have not physically offered me a position yet. Do I hold tight, or do I take one of the other positions that I really don't want. (Or it just does not feel right)

Reading your responses I would take the other job you were offered. Even though you really want this job, it doesn't sound to promising. I would take the other position because the first job that you want may just disappear. In this economy a bird in the hand,

In this economy I don't think it too smart to wait for one offer when you already have a job offer for someone else. Because what if the job you really want does not offer you a position and the other job doesn't wait for you decision and hires another candidate. Unless you are financially secure I would take the other offer.

Hi I think you should keep applying to other positions that meets you criteria! I know that things take forever when you're ready to start working but if it's for you it's for you maybe there's something out there better for you right around the corner!

You take one of the positions that best suits your situation at this moment. It is easier to obtain employment when you are already employed. Your mind and spirit remains attuned to a work environment. In addition to continuing to earn wages that may be help-full in other important ways. Lastly,. you may never get the job you desire. But, remain motivated and confident while you maintain your job search.

If I was in your position I would not wait. Keep looking and interviewing. Meanwhile after a week get in touch and simply ask if you are still under consideration for that position. The main thing is don't sit still, keep moving, don"t take a position you don"t like because it will reflect in your work.

I think in this case, you might want to stop by and talk with the HR resource to show your interest in this position and then ask if there is an issue you might need to clarify for them. Finally, ask if they plan on moving forward very soon as you need clarification as to a time so your responsibilities are being met.

If you can afford to wait for the perfect job, then I would wait, but if not then my advice would be to take one of the other offers and then continue to pursue the position that you really want. Dont be afraid to let the hiring people at the position you want, too let them know that you are very interested in that position, but definetly let then know why, have a list of reasons as to why you woild be a great fit for that position, along time ago, i interviewed for a position that I really wanted, (atleast i thought), and i let the interviewer know that i really wanted it, but then they asked why i felt i was right for the position? I wasnt prepared for that question other than "i really want it" really what i wanted was out of my current position. Of course i didnt get the job.... good luck..

Hello Traciann KEIM to be honest with you I like the idea of Ngerikl Baules but I also like the idea of Lee Jones. Mariah Bliss your concept means well, but it also can be a firing cannon, by that I mean that they can say if he is in such a demand then why has he not got one of those jobs, or they can say that he might be using some good reverse psychology by telling them something that's not completely true with the interest on attracting them but in reality it would be scarring them off, and therefore not wanting him for their company. I believe that it would be better for him to wait a little while longer, and then give then a call or send them an email inquiring about the results of his multiple interviews. Sometimes it pays of to wait, than not wait at all. I wish you the best luck in the world, take care and God bless, and the same to the rest of the people on the forum.
