Is this right?
I have worked my job for six years. After about three years after I started, I was told that I would have to be a sub-contractor and no longer be an employee. I was not given a choice My insurance, retirement, vacation, and other benefits were taken away Now, after three years, they are saying that they are paying me too much. I work over fourty hours a week and do a good job. It's contract time. I can't afford a pay cut. What would you do? Thoughts?

This is ageism and it's real. They are trying to get rid of you. It's easier to find employment while you are employed, so start looking. I would contact EEO also. You do not have to let a company treat you bad.

Renegotiate your contract. You are a contractor now. Give them your demands. Look into exactly what you can do as far as terms of employment. This is new for you but not THEM

Look for a new job. It sounds like their going to push you out in the future, so get ahead of them so you don't end up without anything. Good luck

They are doing a restructuring, and a trick employers, do to avoid unemployment, is to push you out so that you quit, are change your status to contracted, so that they won’t have to pay unemployment, but with your previous years you can still win. They don’t have your best interest in mind, follow all company guidelines, and don’t take any short cuts. For they are looking for ways to cut done, and you seem to be on the list. I also pray that god guides you they this situation

I’m sorry about that! It’s easy for everybody to say hey walk away but we are not in your shoes. We do not know your circumstances. In any case idk if you love the job and the people? Would that be reason to stay? Is your salary competitive? I wish you luck in your decision making!

Sounds like a great time to look for another position.

Of course it is not right. Look for something better. Do not resign until you find what you want. Good luck.

You can file a complaint with The Hourly Wage div. of your State dept. of unemployment and they also can represent all the other employees as well in a class action, if you talk to them everyone remains protected. Polish up your resume just in case. I believe you can collect on your insurance, and other benefits as well.

Seems like they have broken ALL KINDS of IRS rules. Got a lawyer?
It sounds illegal. Are you clocking in and out? Are they telling you what hours you have to work? If so, they cannot classify you as a subcontractor. Go to the Dept of Employment and file a case!
