No confidentiality

So, I just got hired at an assistant living /rehab facility. I went in to fill out some hiring forms. So as I'm sitting there waiting, I heard a lady (just as clear as day) talking about suspending this woman she was on the phone with. I heard the woman's name and what she was getting suspended for. I couldn't believe that dumb broad didn't close her door. So when she was done being unprofessional than a mofo, I told the receptionist that I could hear the whole conversation. I'm surprised the receptionist didn't hear it. Anyways, she went in there and told her what I said. This woman first tried to justify her mistake, then quickly apologized with a not so good tone in her voice. After that, I thought about that situation for two whole days. Well, I found out that lady was the administrator. I decided to report that woman to the cooperate integrity hotline. I don't feel like even the boss should be able to get away with that. In the medical field there's no room for those type of errors. The administrator called and apologize to me once I told the Don about it and that I didn't want to work there anymore because of that red flag. I accepted her apology but she still is going to have to deal with corporate.

Great!!! You stood up for what is right and just. Most of all (integrity) if people will stand up for right and hold management.Accountable for the actions they do, a lot of this nonsense that the workforce (American citizens ) has go through unnecessarily will put a haut. You knew your worth and value and you wasn't going to compromise it for nothing not even pay. Awsome!! Those who does compromise they're worth and value have a slave mentality. Not not realizing the gift of choice human being has,and the organizations that loves those who will compromise;has a master mentality. The question is do the masses have a slave mentality?God bless you on your journey

This is so funny! You talk about one person talking about suspending someone yet you put it out on the internet. Are you not doing the same as the administration did? So quick to judge others when you, yourself do the same thing.only red flag i see is hiring you

Good decision and Great Character! You avoided wasting your time around those who would eventually target and sabotage you after learning you are not like them. In this culture, open shaming and secret gossip are the pass times of almost all work-place environments, even/especially among management. Confidentiality in the work-place is like the objectivity rule of journalism; a rule that's often taught, but very rarely practiced.

With writing skills like yours and the way you project yourself, my guess is you aren't going to last long. It's corporate hotline not cooperate hotline. Dumb broad, MOFO? Really? In my 12 years as a nursing home administrator, I've never had that happen. I wouldn't let it happen. Poor leadership and skills on her part.

Good for you Shauna, sometimes the managers need to be put in their place.

Shauna - Integrity in the work place is very difficulty to come by. These things happen and if you feel so strongly about the event you overhead on your first day, you did the right thing for you. This is something that goes on in every office. I'm an Office Manager and I have also fallen victim to lack of confidentiality because the office is so small and I was so upset by an incident of disrespect, that I had difficulty controlling my emotions. Just because you're a supervisor does not mean you are not human and subject to indiscretions. Once for me was enough and I apologized, but the damage was already done. We can't always be in total control of our emotions even though people expect such behavior from supervisors or officers of the organization. But to make the same mistake twice is really unforgivable, which I can honestly say, I haven't. This is probably the circumstances you witnessed and for a new hire or seasoned company employee, it can seem devastating, as it was when the person found out they were overheard, as I was. That was just "one red flag" for you. Sorry to say, you're going to run into many more red flags if you continue in the workforce. Are you going to continue to quit each job because it does not fit the criteria you have established for yourself with the company you want to work for? And add to that, you only heard ONE end of the conversation. You were not privy to the entire conversation.
