If you were working at Northrop Grumman how would you go about asking for a higher salary?

You wouldn't ask for more money. You could, however, ask your immediate manager how you could expand your work experience so you could prepare yourself for the next step up in your career. Northrop Grumman offers programs for those that either want to rotate positions or if they want a mentor to help them in their career.

Be prepared to offer up your achievements with the company and be willing to commit to additional duties/projects. Also, bring hard data about what your job typically pays in your city/state. These days you have to be able to provide the information that would support an increase. Just asking doesn't cut it.

I was working for them for years. They're a great company. I say simply ask. I don't think it will affect your job.
