Employee Discrimination At Waste Management ln The U.S 2018
I am a African American women. I worked at WM for about 8 months in Commerce California as a customer service representative and was racially discriminated against. I was fired on the same day of my pay raise. I was on time everyday, I had no write ups or warnings, my performance was outstanding, l never missed any days and I received a lot recognition awards. In May l was promised a promotion transfer to commercials ,instead someone else got the position. I felt sooo bad. WM management was so hostile and racist towards me. I tried to reach out to HR. and management but know response. My supervisor gave me an unlawful write up according to the the LABOR Board Ca. Section 200 because I had a subpoena to go to court to protect my life due to domestic violence I was working mored than 40 hrs a week. How Horrible! I know how you feel Brother.I would like to add on to my WM complaint. I was fired because l was unable to locate a customer's account , in which the customer was not a waste management customer and thought they were. Proir to this incident rasicst comments was being made towards me several times by management. I am African American women. WM call center had about 155 Hispanics employees and 20 African American employees. It was hard getting a job at WM. The average African American in my dept. was employed no more than 2 yrs or less per employee and the Hispanics get a chance to retire from the company. WM is a revolving door for colored people. WM hires bout 10 colored employees once or twice a year and only terminate and rehire colored people only because WM must comply with the EEOC Board. I was fired for no real reason.

I am a white male who had been fired and when appealing my cause for termination to UI, I was found to be fired for no malicious cause; and I was found to have been sexual discriminated against by my supervisor. It felt good knowing that I did everything right and to the best of my abilities and others recognized I was wrongly let go. The company was fined and I was even given the option to sue, however, I just wanted to get on with my life and back to work. I didn’t mind being told I didn’t do a bad job and of course given payment for my incident.

Anyone who is or has experienced discrimination in a workplace please post comments!
I'm SORRY that happened to you Laura! You are RIGHT, there is nothing wrong with you, and racial discrimination DOES exist. There is also age discrimination unfortunately, which I am facing, and sexual discrimination. I have been going to interviews lately, and thinking that if the people who are interviewing me had to apply again for their jobs, they wouldn't make it! Good luck to you. I'm sorry about the domestic violence. I hope you are okay.
