What gaps?

I have had the same job for 21 years, but now I want to get back into customer service which I did over 21 years ago, but I did put those jobs in there, so where are the gaps?

Tarina,

I'm not sure who you're replying to, but I think you are misunderstanding the definition of "employment gaps". This is actually the length of time that one goes without employment in between employment. In other words, you've worked one job, lost or quit that position and haven't gained new employment in (6)+ months.

Your post refers to you having working an existing position in a specific field for (21) years but now you want to return to the customer service field. If you're submitting an application for a customer service position(s), some online site applications are temperamental and wants you to account for any time gaps in between employers. However, in your case since you have only been at one job for the past (21) years then you should only be listing this current position being that most applications want you to track 5-10 years of past employment.

Best of luck!
