Let’s Talk Money Already!!

I’m trying to get hired on with a good IT company and so far I’ve had a phone interview with Human Resources, and two separate personal interviews with the department heads. I have another interview with the Division Director and who know’s what else after that. Lot’s of good talk but no one has brought up salary during any one of these previous interviews. Granted, I need a job but the compensation package is a driving force on my commitment and desire to continue along this extended hiring process. I’ve been trying to keep cool and not bring up the issue but I’m starting to get concerned after all the time being spent on these interviews. Should I bring it up during my next interview meeting with the Division Director?

I would have asked right after the 2nd interview.

Getting that “dream job” includes the dream salary that should come with it. After 3-4 interview bring it up or get a clear breakdown of what to expect before a final hiring decision is made.

I’m a firm believer in the old school method when it comes to salary and a possible job offer. Let the company mention it first then negotiate if the terms aren’t suitable.

You typically would wait until you get the job offer before mentioning pay. Also be sure that you have done your research. So that when the time comes you are prepared. What research you ask? Know what you are worth! Have a range instead of a specific number. Let them know that you are flexible. It's not all about pay. Please ask about other benefits: health insurance, vacation time, sick pay, 401(k), stock options and etc. I hope that this was helpful. Good luck!
