Over qualified for FedEx Job?
Last month I applied for a P&D Managers position with FedEx Ground. Today i received a email stating I was not going to be considered for the position. I have over 12 years of expierance and have ran a successful UPS Freight facility. No one can give me a reason why I was overlooked. Could I be over qualified? It took nearly a month for a response and local facility says HR is responsible for the hiring process. I don’t have a number to reach them. I was positive I would of been considered at least for an interview.

Raul, Employers are subject to their own hiring rules. I am not sure what happened. However, the employment market is overly saturated with qualified and non qualified applicants, It is important to know that you are not the only one seeking the position but you do want to be the one selected. You have to do your research. You need to know about the company, the department you will be working in and the position details. Glassdoor is a resource for Company information. Also, you can google and find out position descriptions and what they are looking for in that position. When you are looking to get a job it is like working an 8 hour job trying to find another job. It takes time. The more time you invest in researching and editing your resume and cover letter , the better your chances will be at getting the position. Keep your head up and Push forward knowing that your time is around he corner. Let everyone know once you get it.

Raul Sotelo Well you would think with your qualifications you would have been selected but I've learned that there are reasons why qualified applicants get rejected.
The requirements of the job changes - for example the job ad the company said they wanted someone with 5 years of experience but now they want 10 years. I don't understand this method and find that makes it much more difficult finding a qualified applicant.
The one thing that hurts most of us are the keyword searching algorithm which does the resume screening and the software can't tell who's qualified and who isn't.
Perhaps they made the assumption that because of your experience and qualifications that you might ask for too much money. So you're pretty much rejected without them asking " what's your salary target".
You could have been qualified for the role but don't fit the profit that the hiring manager or the HR person had in mind for a new hire, whether it's the age, your educational background or any other irrelevant factor.
In my case - I've been out of work for a while due to a chronic illness, so I've been rejected even though I'm qualified for the role - so sometimes my application is rejection automatically.
Last but not least - hiring managers will hold out for highly-qualified applicant who is also willing to work for a below-market salary. ( Crappy huh)
Well this helps gives you an idea and perhaps some closure.
I recommend if you have a Linkedin account to look up FedEx Group HR Manager in your local facility/area. See if you can get a contact name/phone number, it wouldn't hurt to call to get some feedback.
I'm looking to start a new career and I would like to work for FedEx as a delivery driver if you have any openings
