For a 'grocery department stocker' - Have good customer service skills and be a fast learner of where things are located. You will of course stock shelves, rotate merchandise and markdown short dated items, check dates on product, manage displays, and put labels and price tags on shelves. Your responsibilities include cleaning shelves and maintaining an orderly space for shoppers like keeping your cardboard and pallets out of the way. Keeping the backroom clean and organized with over/backstock worked and then binned/put away. Organizing and 'blocking/conditioning' (product pulled to the lip of the shelve) and returning misplaced items (re-shops). You will mop, sweep, and sometimes clean the restrooms/breakroom. You also at times will collect grocery carts from outside in the rain/snow/heat. You assist in unloading product from the trucks and will downstack items either on pallets or floats to the proper aisles. Usually stock 50-60 items per hour. Standing 100% of the time and lifting 30-80 lbs like dog food bags. Anything else your lead tells you to do, you might get called to run the register, unload pallets of pumpkins or Christmas Trees, etc.
