College Education But NO JOBS

Our kids are graduating now, often with huge student loans, but finding no jobs. Instead of just whining about this we could take some action.

Much of the problem is due to industry's embrace of the H1b visas. They are non-immigrant visas which allow US industries to import foreign workers instead of hiring American kids.

The lie behind this is that are just not enough people in America to cover the work, so poor industry just "has" to import them. But we all well know there are millions of people in America glad to work.

The truth is that the foreign workers are much, much cheaper- it's just another scam to get cheap labor and throw the American workers on the street.

The contract houses especially love the H1b- because they can bid a contract at an American pay scale but fill it with an H1b visa person- and the difference in pay inflates their profit margins. The result is lots of them refuse to hire an American.

That's one BIG reason, as people on this forum continually complain, they NEVER get callbacks or even acknowledgements on jobs they apply for The fix is in, and it's NOT in favor of American workers.

And these are NOT McDonalds level jobs, like with the unskilled illegals. These are the professional jobs our kids deserve to get when they graduate from college, but unfortunately, since our kids are Americans, are denied them.

It is so bad one Indian company, Tata, has almost seized the ENTIRE base of allowed H1b visas by ITSELF. Other countries are now even being cut out by Tata.

We got into this mess because we let industry sell out the working man of this country. Weird. Do you think India and China have special visas so they can bring in Americans and hire them at a priority over their own children and citizens. No of course not. Only here does this perversion exist.

Whatever. The Federal government is FINALLY starting to examine the H1b problems. So the iron is hot, so to speak, for we Americans to strike. We need to email our Congressmen and tell them to kill the H1b program, which should never have existed in the first place, and to cancel existing H1b visas.

If we do that our kids may have a chance to get a job when they get out of college. Otherwise we might as well close our colleges, the degrees will be expensive but lead no where, which is unfortunately pretty much how it is getting already.

Just email your representatives and tell them to kill the H1b, and hire American kids from now on. It's OUR country after all, and we have the right to make sure our kids have a fair chance.

It's not that hard to do. Just Google your local representatives. It gives you a chance to actually DO something about our poor economy. Following find a typical link. Stand up for your kids.

I am sure I will be greatly reviled here, called "racist" etc, but Americans need to start standing up for themselves. If you don't have the guts to stand up for yourself then at least do it for the poor kids graduating from college, they did NOT create the mess they must endure.

This is definitely an interesting post, Nolan - I think employers will be a key part of the solution in terms of balancing immigration with hiring skilled American workers. Thanks for sharing!
