Scam alert
Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. There is a scam going on using zip recruiter. They contracted me, told me I was going to have an interview. Had the interview through Google hangouts which lasted over an hour. They told me I was hired and would send me a check to buy software that I would need. They sent me a check for 3800.00 that I was supposed to deposit immediately. Called the bank or was issued on - it was a fraudulent check. The company they say they are hiring for is Al Sayer medical out of Kuwait. That is a legitimate company - the rest is not. Please be careful.

Yea, I personally spoke with someone from Zip Recruiter, they asked me why I wasn't using their platform to look for work. I emailed them back saying every time I use them I get Scam artists! He apologized and said they working on weeding the con artist out. Anytime someone ask you to use Gmail or text you is a sign not to entertain them, I will tell them quick that I will report them to the FBI. I found out that they have a team for Cyber crimes.

I live in Florida and was sent a check and when I took it to the Bank they told me to call that company and it was just and empty office in another state. Thanks for sharing Jeanette

Thanks Jeanette it's frauds like this that that put people's financial situation in Jeopardy, I must admit to being a victim of a fraudulent activity as well.where I deposited a check from some kind of fake research company.well the check bounced an it put my bank account in Jeopardy.i've never recovered after this happened to me it made me have trust issues with people an my friends, it's a wide spread cronic problem I've had so many complaints about people on the computer committing fraud against hard working Americans like you an me. An I think the federal government should investigate as well as the FBI, these internet predators are slick an some are even dangerous so please be very careful about who you trust,an give your information to online.

Hi Jeannette! Thanks for sharing your experience! You should always be wary of companies that contact you first, also be very wary of companies based outside of the US. Google Hangouts is also a big red flag, as well as the check. I'm so glad you didn't fall for it!
