Nursing?

Im a 50 plus LPN, I have not worked in the nursing field for two years. What are my chances of getting back into nursing? Any suggestions, I would live to relocate ?

Barbara, I'm an RN in my 50s who has just walked in your shoes. I was laid off earlier this year from an office job, but I'm now enjoying a job at a nursing facility that I was privileged to get after being away from patient care for 3 years. I was placed with a wonderful preceptor who helped me get back on track with direct patient care, which has always been my first love. Hang in there, take review courses if you can. The opportunity will come.

Pretty good. I live in Pittsburgh and according to the news there is a nursing shortage. I would apply to a home care company, or a skilled nursing facility or personal care home.

Try some of the contract agencies. They are hiring everywhere because of the way nurses are being paid. You can work close to home with any luck. They do 13 week stints for a specific employer. It's worth looking into. Many hospitals are having to staff this way because of the pay deference between staff and contract nurses.

Thanks

Barbara I do not know where you live but I know in South Carolina I see more jobs for LPNs and I do for our ends I would tell you that there's always refresher courses you can take in any hospital that will hire you and if you're not looking for a hospital look at a doctor's office they usually want you to be trained Anyway by someone they need to have
