What would you do if you were bullied on a job?
I worked for a medium sized university and went thru 4 supervisors in a year. I got excellent reviewers each time. When my 5th supervisor came on board, she started bullying me. I complained to,HR and in three months' time, was fired. What should i have done different? I tried a private audience with her, then with her and our boss to no avail.
File for unemployment, if you were terminated after less than 10 years working there you will be denied. Appeal, and a judicator will determine if there was cause or appropriate paper trail. After a successful appeal you can contact the EEOC for a writ to sue. Get a lawyer. I was terminated after returning from work due to a temporary disability not claimed as a workmans comp. I was warched like a hawk and the first excuse they could use was terminated. I chose not to sue because I wanted to get on with my life but have regretted it.

This is a major problem which I have encountered. I addressed it too and now I have not been a candidate for not being able to improve in a higher position. HR, have a bad habit of protecting the managers and directors even if they are wrong. In my case i was knowledged and considered, however, she was terminated 8 months later. Now a new manager came in he was great at first I helped him a lot but he was corky and still is and he was promoted. I tried to let him know I was not appreciated, meanwhile, everyone know how a great worker I am, clients, their families, and coworkers. I guess it was best for you not to be in that terrible company . I stood because I prefer to stay at the position I am at. I make more money as a part timer/per diem and I live close and that saves me with gas, car wore and tore, weather when there is ice, and it is close to make sure my teen is doing fine. I have more benefits instead of me leaving. I plan to go to a warm state and I pray that they all miss me and those who did me wrong karma will met them. Do not forget karma will come. to them when they learn compassion for others and gain wisdom. I have constant job offers in my time I will move to better aves. Good luck. You will be fine
Yes I keept a work diary but when I mentioned the word bullying in HR, they said my accusation would have to go to the Board of Regents and they doubted I would be able to prove it happening. It was all a traumatizing event that I thought others should read about and learn from - never trust HR!
Do you have any proof these two incidents are tied to one another?
Merrie , I'm so sorry this has happened to you. You should document everything you can remember, w/ dates , times , & witnesses if possible. Then call the dept of labor - federal & pass the info to them. You only have a limited amount of time to do this , so don't wait to long. Good luck !
