Who ya know!

Should I even bother applying for a job online if I don’t know anybody who works for the company? It seems like that’s the only way to get hired nowadays. I filter through literally hundreds of online job openings everyday and send in my application information along with a cover letter and resume but all that doesn't appear to be enough information to merit a courtesy follow-up call or message from all these companies posting job openings or claim to be hiring. Sorry, Im usually not this negative but my job search failures are wearing down my Spirit. Landing a job must be all about who you know now, right?

Not necessarily, Ron. If you follow up on those applications, that can help get you an "in" as well. It at least shows you're willing to go the extra mile.
